Work Under I-74 on N. Main St. Begins January 10, 2022
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that construction on North Main Street under Interstate 74 in Morton begins Jan. 10, weather permitting.
The work involves repairs to a bridge pier and will require a barrier wall and a minor change to the traffic pattern for about a month. One lane will remain open in each direction, and I-74 traffic will not be affected.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
