Spring Hydrant Flushing

The semi-annual hydrant flushing program begins on Monday, April 8, 2019.

Flushing operations will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday thru Friday.  It is expected to be completed within 3 weeks.  Location information will be posted to our website as it becomes available.

Saturday, April 6 through Sunday, April 28
(Closed Friday, April 19 – Sunday, April 21)

 8:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M. daily

 

VILLAGE OF MORTON RESIDENTS ONLY:  Free yard waste disposal is available at Sewage Treatment Plant #2, 2625 S. Fourth (at the corner of S. Fourth and Broadway Rd.).  Verification of name & address required.

The program is “self-serve” as it has been in the past.  A fenced area at STP#2 will be designated for yard waste disposal.  Assistance will not be provided for removal or dumping of landscape waste, so please plan accordingly.

The following regulations and limitations must be met:

  • Only leaves, grass clippings, and tree branches (no greater than 5′ in length or 4” in diameter), and any associated landscape waste will be accepted.
  • No paper or plastic bags will be allowed for disposal.  
  • Neither landscaping timber (railroad ties) nor construction lumber is allowed.
  • No commercial enterprise may deposit landscape waste at this site.
  • “Root mass” from trees, bushes, or shrubbery is not allowed.
  • No pet waste, household garbage or plant containers of any kind at this site.    
  • No yard waste is to be left outside the designated fenced area.
  • Video surveillance will take place during the program. 

Please follow, or help us police these rules to ensure the continued operation of this free yard waste disposal program for all citizens of Morton.

Remember that it is a violation of Village ordinances to deposit landscape and yard waste on Village property (in the streets, in Prairie and Bull Run Creeks, down storm sewers, etc.), and that open burning of landscape waste or any kind of garbage is prohibited within the Village limits.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day @ Morton Police Department

The Morton Police Department will once again participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27, 2019.  Individuals can bring their unused or expired prescription medication to the Morton Police Department, 375 W. Electronics Recycling Event @ FOLEPI Building

Tazewell County is hosting an Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 8:00AM – 12:00PM at the FOLEPI Building, 2200 E. Washington Street, East Peoria, Illinois.

Acceptable Items Include:

  • Computers & small-scale servers
  • Computer monitors
  • Televisions
  • Printers, fax machines & scanners
  • DVD players, DVD recorders & VCRs
  • Video game consoles
  • Digital converter boxes, cable receivers & satellite receivers
  • Electronic keyboards, electronic mice & portable digital music players

Items Accepted (Fees Charged):

  • CRT monitors – $20.00

A bulky item pickup is scheduled for May 6 – May 10 on your normal garbage day.  Residents need to have acceptable items at the curb by 6:00 AM.  Anything that can fit in a can, bag or box will require an additional trash sticker (Bulky Items Only!).

Acceptable Materials Include: Mattresses, box springs, bed frames, tables, chairs, bar stools, desks, filing cabinets, dressers, night stands, chests, sofas, couches, ottomans, hide-a-beds, recliners, patio and lawn furniture, oversized toys (batteries must be removed), entertainment centers (broken down), picture frames, Etc.

Non Acceptable Materials Include: Banned Waste, (tires, paint, batteries, appliances (white goods), Landscape waste, hazardous waste (oil, gas, solvents), Special waste,  E-waste (computers, TV’s, electronics), construction waste and concrete (including construction waste from large-scale home remodeling projects)
