Community Electric Aggregation Notifications
The Village of Morton along with approximately 40 other communities enrolled in the electric aggregation program and will have a new electric generation supplier, Energy Harbor, beginning with the July 2023 meter read dates through the December 2025 meter read dates. The new rate will be 9.84 cents per kWh + Capacity Charge.
A key component of our aggregation program is allowing residents a cost free opt-out option. Please note that if the resident does not choose a different alternative supplier within 60 days, they must remain with Ameren for an additional 10 months or 1 year total. The notification mailing provides information on how to opt out of the program if necessary. If you wish to continue with the program, there is nothing additional for you to do as you will continue to receive your electric bill from Ameren with the new Energy Harbor charges included.
In summary, the Village of Morton continues to participate in electric aggregation because it allows us to secure rates that are insured and protected during volatile times in the market while retaining the option for residents and small businesses to leave at any time without penalty.
