Private: Military Recognition Signs Displayed on Courtland Street
The Village of Morton will be removing the Military Recognition signs on Courtland Street for the winter, as is our normal practice.
These signs recognize individuals who are currently serving in a branch of the U.S. Military and who have resided in Morton for a portion of their life. We have attempted to reach out to the family of the individuals recognized in order to update our records. If you have not been contacted by someone from the Village in the past six months and are the contact person for a sign displayed, please call our office at (309)266-5361 or email email@example.com. If the individual is no longer serving please call so that we can arrange for the sign to be given to their family.
The Village will re-install the signs next Spring. However, we will only install those signs which we know represent currently serving individuals. We do not want to miss installing a sign for an individual, so we are asking for the public’s assistance.
Also, if you have someone serving in the military and have not had a sign posted, you may also contact the Village at the number above so that we can order a sign next Spring. The application form is also on our website at www.morton-il.gov/services/military-service-recognition/.
