Household Hazardous Waste Community Cleanup

A household hazardous waste disposal event will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 for Morton residents, from 7:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M., at the Bus Transportation Facility at 250 W. Courtland Street in Morton. Morton residents will be able to dispose of items otherwise prohibited in landfills and which cannot legally enter sanitary or storm water sewage systems. A list of acceptable items and non-acceptable items are listed below.
Disposal will be managed by Area Disposal / Grimm Bros. Trucking, and their contractor Veolia, an international firm specializing in household hazardous waste disposal.
Morton police will provide traffic control at the site to facilitate entry and departure. There is no limit to the amount of material each resident may drop off. However, because the service is limited to Morton residents, identification will be required for disposal.
For those looking to dispose of used motor oil or e-waste only, Grimm Bros. Trucking accepts these items for disposal on a regular basis from their customers at their facility located at 1090 W. Jefferson Street in Morton during regular business hours.
Paint can be disposed of at the curb as long as it is solidified. To turn the paint from a liquid to a solid, leave the lid off the paint can and let it dry. Customers can also add kitty litter to the paint can to expedite the drying process. The lid must be off the paint can, and the can outside the tote, at the curb for Grimm Bros. Trucking to accept.
