Important Update Regarding Electricity Prices for Summer 2026

The Village of Morton is reminding community members who are enrolled in our community’s energy aggregation supply program that, while electricity supply costs will increase this summer, aggregation customers are still expected to pay lower supply rates than Ameren customers. The aggregation program will deliver lower electricity supply rates for residential and small commercial customers.

What does this mean for your electric bill?

Your electric bill has two parts:

Delivery Charge – This is what Ameren Illinois charges to maintain and operate the electric grid (wires, poles, systems, and workers).

Supply Charge – This is the cost of the actual electricity you use. If you look at your bill, it lists your energy supplier. Customers enrolled in the aggregation program receive electricity through Homefield Energy.

How much more will customers pay from June 1 to September 1, 2026?

Homefield Energy
For customers enrolled in the aggregation program, the electricity supply price from Homefield will increase from 9.3 cents to about 10.7 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

Ameren
Ameren’s summer rates are divided between residential and commercial. Ameren’s posted summer rate for residential (Ameren BGS-1) is approximately 11.2 cents per kWh. Ameren’s posted summer rate for commercial customers is approximately 13.0 cents per kWh.

Who is my electric supplier?
Check the “Electric Supply” section of your Ameren bill to see who your supplier is and what rate you’re paying. You can compare options at pluginillinois.org.
