When is Village Hall open?

The hours of operation for Village Hall are Monday-Friday, 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., excluding for holidays.  Planning and Zoning (located at Village Hall) hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., excluding holidays.

  • #1 thru #5 plastics (NO plastic bags) excluding containers that have contained hazardous or flammable chemicals in them
  • Cans made of steel, aluminum or bi-metal
  • Clear, brown and green glass bottles and jars
  • Cardboard broken down no larger than 2 ft x 2 ft bundled or contained
  • Newspapers, catalogs, phone books, magazines and junk mail

When do I get my Morton Utilities bill?

Morton Utilities bills are mailed out by the first day of each month.  You can also view your utility bill online by going to ‘View Utility Bill’ on our homepage.  You will be taken to our payment processor’s website where you can register to view your bill.  To help keep costs for the Village down, you can opt out of paper bills and receive your bill online each month.  You will receive an email each month when your bill is available. 

Note:  You do not have to pay online to view your bills online. 
 

Can I pay my Morton Utilities bill directly from my checking or savings account?

Yes.  You can click the link below for the needed form or visit the Morton Utilities office to obtain a form.  Print and complete the form and return it to Morton Utilities with a voided check or deposit ticket.

What do I do if I don't receive my Morton Utilities bill?

If you do not receive your Morton Utilities bill by the third business day of the month, contact the Morton Utilities Office to get your amount due over the telephone and to confirm that we have the correct address on file.  IMPORTANT: Failure to receive your Morton Utilities bill shall not excuse a customer from his or her obligation to pay within the time period specified.

What type of signs am I allowed to display in my front yard?

Residential signs are limited to:

1. Political signs.
2. "For Sale" or "For Rent" signs.
3. Garden produce signs.

These signs must be placed on private property, not in the Village right-of-way.  In most cases, this will be behind the sidewalk or ten (10) feet behind the curb.  Be sure to get permission from the property owner before placing a sign in their yard.

I have a home-based business. Am I permitted to have a sign?

No. Business signs are not allowed in residential districts of Morton, IL.

As a business owner, how many portable signs am I permitted to have?

Only one (1) portable sign per business location is allowed.  The portable sign should not be in the Village right-of-way.  Portable signs may not be scattered throughout the Village.
